Update from Metairie

I'm still kicking over here in Metairie. It's been a LONG two months! It feels like forever that we have lived in our house. Somedays, I can't even remember living there and I have been there my whole life.

Things are progressing, as far as the house goes. We actually have a few walls up and insulation! Yippee!!! We got our FEMA trailer on Monday (we will officially be trailer lawn trash soon!) However, there was another problem...When they turned on the water for the trailer, it flooded our house again!! That's right! We had removed everything from our house, and the hole where the toilet was, was not blocked up and as a result, flooded the house once again. So, we can't move in the trailer until that problem is fixed! We take 2 steps forward and 5 backwards, but that's ok. We will survive.

We have been living in my friend Stephanie's, cousin's house, while he works out of town. We have been there for a month now and it has been great! We are truly thankful that God has provided us with places to live during this trying time. Thank God for people being so gracious to us, otherwise, we really would have lost our marbles by now!

On another note, some good has come out of this whole mess...I started dating a very nice guy. I actually met him on our evacuation trip in Orlando--of all places. We are having a great time and I am enjoying getting to know him. We have been supporting our local businesses and restaurants that are opened in the city and having a lot of fun in the mean time!

I have posted more pictures of our house and the progress that it is making. You can view them here: http://www.welchfamilynola.com/gallery/cleanup They are really sad photos, esp. for those of you who know my neighborhood and our houses. It is still surreal to me. I just hope and pray we are in our own home by Christmas. What a wonderful Christmas present that would be!!! Please continue to keep us in your thoughts and prayers. We are still living the nightmare.
